Lightweight Active Magnesium Oxide
Product Description
Introduction
Light Magnesium Oxide (L-MgO) is an important inorganic chemical material, typically produced from high-purity magnesium ore via a light calcination process. It features a low bulk density and a high specific surface area, appearing as a white, odorless powder with excellent hygroscopic properties and heightened chemical reactivity. With the chemical formula MgO, L-MgO exhibits outstanding resistance to high temperatures, maintaining stability even under extreme heat conditions, while remaining stable and unreactive in humid environments. Its large specific surface area usually ranges from 40 to 60 m²/g, with a bulk density of approximately 0.2–0.3 g/cm³. The particle size is relatively small, typically between 10 and 50 µm.
Application Areas
Rubber Industry
Lightweight active magnesium oxide, acting as a promoter and filler, enhances the abrasion resistance and mechanical properties of rubber, making it widely used in the production of rubber products such as tires and seals.
The Plastics Industry
As a reinforcing material, it enhances the mechanical strength and high-temperature resistance of plastics, making it particularly important in the manufacturing of high-performance plastics.
Environmental Protection
Due to its strong adsorption properties, lightweight activated magnesium oxide can be used in wastewater treatment and air purification, particularly demonstrating remarkable effectiveness in removing harmful gases such as sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Construction Industry
As an excellent hygroscopic agent, lightweight activated magnesium oxide is commonly used in the production of concrete and mortar to enhance the materials' crack resistance and strength.
Pharmaceuticals and cosmetics
In the pharmaceutical industry, lightweight active magnesium oxide serves as a sustained-release carrier for drugs, enabling controlled drug release rates. In cosmetics, it is used as an anti-caking agent and humectant, enhancing product stability.
Agricultural sector
As a soil conditioner, lightweight active magnesium oxide can adjust soil pH levels and promote plant growth, particularly delivering excellent results for plants with high calcium and magnesium requirements.
